I tested one with a 2 gallon soup pot and with a 12 inch frying pan. The first time the unit worked, it worked perfectly. The second time I went to use the unit, it gave an error code with a flashing U that is underlined. NO ONE at Best Buy or Insignia knew what that code meant, and because it happened AFTER the 15 day return period, they wont do anything about it. They cant fix it. I would suggest any other brand. This one doesnt work and there is zero support for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Manual says 5.5-8.3 inches. Not big enough for me. Want at least 10 inches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is directed to "JazzyL8y:" A reviewer had the same problem with an error. This is the advice from Insignia: "This is a communication exception. It is recommended to turn off the machine and wait for 1mins before restarting it. If it still doesn't work, could you please contact https://www.insigniaproducts.com/email-us for support? Thank you." Hope that you get this and hope that it helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use the 12 on it. Heat distribution is not even the center is much hotter but you can stir up the food to make up for it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Near 10" . We use 10-12" cast iron all the time. Even heat on ours.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's 8 inches.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Based on the pattern of water boiling in a pot, the heating element appears to be about 5 inches wide. I have used larger pans and pots, but the middle will heat very quickly while the edges will take time to heat. I have found frying difficult with a larger pan or skillet because of uneven heat distribution. Cooking with liquids is less of a problem.
