“Does the sound bar automatically shut off after a period of down time? Should it be turned off when the TV is not in use or does it shut off automatically?”

• Not that I'm aware of -- have forgotten to turn off at night and was still on the next morning. Downside of sound bar is that it can not be controlled by TV remote--requiring you to remember to use both remotes

• No, it doesn't, but there are special power strips that can cut power to a specific device based on the power draw of another. They are mostly use with computers to cut power to the monitor.

• No it does not. Always stays on, even after you turn off your TV

• When the TV is off,the sound bar should be turned off also.
