• it's hard, but not completely rigid. it does fit the 2ds xl. it holds 8 games. it has 2 stylus slots on the game pocket thing as well.

• The case isn't hard plastic but it's pretty thick and provides a good cushion. It does keep it's shape if that's what you mean. There are eight little game sleeves and I've managed to load in a few of them with two games instead of just one.

• This is a hard case. We bought it for my child's 2DS, but it also works for the 2DS XL. My son says it holds 6 games. Hope this helps!
