If you have a nvr there is no need to do way your describing. As long as you have added nvr to your network. Download the central management software that comes with your nvr or can find online when searching nvr model number and the software will scan and find nvr on local network and you add that way. 2 other ways to do something similar is if your monitor has a vga or hdmi input can connect with cable. If only has one vga or hdmi input can get a hdmi or vga switch. Last way is to use internet explorer browser by using the nvr local IP address in search bar and download the viewing software after logging in. Examples of most local network address would be 192.168.x.x or 10.0.x.x. X=any three number combination.
