“I have a zvox sound bar that is 36” wide x 5-3/4” high x 3-14” deep. The dimension of the sound bar slot says 5-12” high. Will my zvox fit in the slot behind the front top support cross piece. I was told there is a metal support bar for the glass top”

Your sound bar will fit - but just barely height wise. There is not any support in the front of the unit; the glass shelves are full width and supported at the edges only. Plenty strong enough to hold my 35 lb amp.
