• No but that may help in your area if the signal is weak. I have one of these antennas in my basement and it is picking up many channels.

• Putting it near a window will help. Just getting it close to an exterior wall would be good too.

• Just by luck my TV is like 4 feet away from a window so I mounted the antenna close as possible by the window. I haven’t tried any other position, but it does come with a nice length cable so you can stretch it out pretty far it need be.
