You may have a speaker and source miss-match. Check to see that the specs on the speakers and the audio source match. Running 8 ohm speakers on a system that requires 16 ohm speakers, for example, can cause the components in the source to overheat and the sound to fade. Another source of crackling and fad is poorly connected wires. Make sure that the wires are secure and that no strands of wire are touching other parts of the housing or other connectors. Failure to observe these precautions may damage your speakers or source.
