“All or nothing? Does the reader automatically transfer all data on the media card to your computer or am I able to only transfer selected data? For example if I have 100 pictures on the card, but only want to transfer 5 or 10, am I able to do that?”

It brings up a window showing all of your photos. You can select which photos you want to transfer to your computer. You do not have to transfer all of them.
