Also, is the cord attached to the card reader base or can the cord be completely disconnected from the housing? Again, from the picture it looks like it doesn't but I wanted to be sure.”

• Cord is maybe 2-3 inches, pretty much as pictured, and is not detachable. Not a bad buy, pretty good quality.
