Same problem. Got an Apple USB-C to USB adapter, works fine. Going to return this and get the Apple USB-C to HDMI/Power/USB adapter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Many USB hubs and adapters with power pass through—like this one — require that a power adapter be plugged into the power pass through USB-C port to provide bus power to peripherals like external drives or CD/DVD players. Try that. A good practice is to get a charger that provides 15w above the charging wattage of your laptop. For example if your laptop needs a 60 watt charger then get at least an 85 watt charger to both power devices connect ed to your hub and simultaneously charge your laptop battery
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would assume the PD (Power Delivery) capable plug would need a PD specific plug or less to power a device. If you are using a MacBook or Surface Pro device, these would require PD capable power sources, and the out of the box power supply from Apple may not be PD capable, even though it is high wattage. USB carries weird contingencies depending on how they are used.
