“I use this adapter for my Mac Pro but for some reason when I plug in my other adapter (USB-C to Ethernet) into this one it won't work. Does it not allow ethernet passthrough or what's the issue?”

None of the outlets on the MacBooks are powered. No cd/dvd drive will work with any of the adapters. Found that out the hard way.
