• Actually, the first answer is incorrect. Look up videos on the subject. Usually, a machine eating tapes is caused by a dirty 'mode switch'. It took five minutes to clean.

• Often tapes getting "eatin" can be because the tape is sticking in transit due to a dirty tape path. In this situation cleaning the tape path could help. However it is most likely a problem that will need professional repair. The good news is it used to be a common practice for professional repair people to include a professional full tape path cleaning with any repair. Since they had the unit open.

• Typically the reason tapes get 'eaten' is the belts or idlers are slipping in the machine. Usually caused by age, the 'rubber' hardens up and is not pliable anymore. Sometimes can be cured with treatment but usually need replaced. The head cleaner will not help you out there. Head cleaners do just that, clean heads, spinning video head and audio. It removes not only dust and lint but wipes them clean from deposited oxide from the tapes.

• I would say to clean it but it will probably need help from a professional. Our problem was the Videos were fuzzy and you could not adjust the tracking.

• This cleaning kit is used to clean dirt and dust from your VCR. It may help to run a cleaner through your VCR but it the issue may be caused by a hardware issue that may just damage this cassette as well.

• Yes a VCR cleaner well help a lot us it twice before u out a tape in ur VCR. And if that doesn't help time for a new VCR.
