You do need to download the insignia app first for the initial set up. But it is 100% compatible with HomeKit and works great.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have two of these switches and I use HomeKit to directly manage mine. Works great with HomeKit and HomeKit Automation. I downloaded the Best Buy app but didn't use it. I am not sure about home assistant. Hope this helps.
