Yes, the earphones have internal batteries. You initially have to charge them before they begin working. The batteries only last for six to ten hours. Then need recharging. Plug a USB adapter into the home lighting switch connect to the headphones. A red light will show the head phones are charging. It will go of when the head phones are fully charged.

It's operated by charging the unit and so far satisfied with it's performance
