I would say nothing less than a z690 based board. just choose a brand that has the features you like. But if you are wanting a z790 board then the best for your money is going to be the Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX (There a 2 versions, 1 that's DDR5 and the other that is DDR4)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used the "MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4" due to the BIOS FlashBack feature, the great VRM cooling, the DDR4 support, and the good price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you can get a z690 with flashback compatibility you can save a few bucks instead of buying a z790. I have several of these builds and performance between the z690 vs z790 is the same. I recommend finding a cheap z690 board with flashback (need updated bios to support 13th gen chips) and save the extra $ on GPU.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Z790 if you want no hassle. Same with B760 once they are available. Z690 if you want to save a bit of money, but they will require BIOS flashback to update the BIOS.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you need a Z (z690, z790) series motherboard to justify the k variant of the CPU.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any Z690 but might need bios update or Z790.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Asus tuff gaming Z790 or Z690 or the Asus Z790 pro motherboard.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use Asus ROG STRIX Z690-e. Works great after updating bios for new processor
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In my opinion, Z690 > B660 > Z790. If you can get the motherboard Bios updated, for sure, both 690 and B660 can support 13600k and also have the mature product line to fit your need based on the budget. But again, make sure update the Bios first before installing the 13600K. Be prepared for the worst case that the function of updating BIOS with no CPU installed failed. Then you will need a 12th gen CPU to boot up to update BIOS. Or otherwise, get the newer Z790, which is designed for the 13th gen but just more expensive than z690. Or maybe wait till early 2023 that the cheaper B760 comes to the market.
