“When purchasing a second state to add to the original 5 federals and 1 state return why is it so expensive? It shouldn't cost almost as much as the federal/state homeowners package!”

I feel your pain and agree, having had to purchase a second state. However, we are the unusual situation (2 or more state filers)- and Intuit has a model for making money for their business. Good luck with your taxes, man.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Deluxe package only includes one 'state' tax package. To add additional states requires the purchase of additional 'state' packages. Several years back, I had to file taxes in two states. Even though I did not like the idea of having to purchase the second state, I did not have to go through intricacies of trying to file the two states - it would have been a real pain in the behind. However, with TurboTax, filing the two states was relatively painless. As far the cost, that is what Intuit figures is a reasonable amount.
