“will this include 1099-r? I tried this online, but because of that 1099-r (401k stuff) I was forced to upgrade to a deluxe, which cost about $36. Then because I was in deluxe, I had to pay state (which was supposed to be free if I didn't have that 1099-r) for another $36. Now total I need to pay $72. Will this include all I need and save a little money? I'm also a student if that matters. Those are the only thing special in my case.”

I buy the boxed version for usually $50.It covers up to 5 federal returns and 1 state return. Fed e-filing is free but state costs $20. We download the state, work it, then print it out. Our state does free e-filing at their website so I use the info from our printed return and key it on their website
