Yes it uses Miracast and uses your wifi antenna to set up a direct connection rather than across the network. It doesn't have a way to enter in your wifi information for it to connect and offer screen sharing through your network. That means that it should work while you are on a VPN, assuming your VPN client does not lock down the Miracast functions. Corporate VPNs often come other fun "features" that could interfere. Some VPNs don't like your device "sharing" your wifi antenna to do a direct Miracast connection while on the VPN. This will really be a factor of your laptop or phone, not the reciever. Go into a store with your laptop or phone and test the screensharing with one of their display smart tvs. If it works there, it should work with this.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it will not connect using VPN
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you probably should contact your corporate IT people. There should be no reason why this would not work unless they somehow prohibit WiFi in a building or in hardware equipment used by the company. If you are working in government (secret) areas, more than likely this would not be allowed and if found out that it was used, they might terminate you. Considering your personal VPN, you should not have any issues but if you have a VPN you can already push data to different monitors/tvs and unsure why you would need IOGEAR for this...I can mirror from my laptop (movies, videos, audio, etc) to my Samsung large screen directly via my VPN in the house without any additional HW.....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The device itself does not connect to any WiFi network, you have to make a direct connection to the wireless IOgear device with your Android mobile or PC, very similar to a Wifi-Direct connection and this Device works with Miracast, i hope this help.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does use Miracast, however it does utilize your network card to make a wireless network connection (WiFi Direct). In my case, my corporate VPN is very restrictive. Once VPN connection is established to my corporation, I cannot connect to my local Miracast receiver.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This device doesn’t connect to your network. It creates a wireless link directly with your computer or device. It does use Miracast according to the product documentation, and streaming from my Windows 10 laptop was as simple as hitting Windows+P. I was extremely impressed with the ease of connection.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Correct. if you are using Windows 10, for example, you can miracast to this device. There is slight ghosting at times, but otherwise works great with little to no lag, depending on how far the machine/device is from this unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would thing so since is connecting directly to the laptop and not the wifi.
