“If it's running upstairs, what happens when it actually comes to the top step? Does it detect the "drop off" or can it fall down stairs?”

• It is designed not to go over edge. Mine usually senses the edge and turns around and goes in a different direction. It has, on one occasion, just stopped and given a verbal message to "move Roomba to a new location".
