• No the bristles are not hard enough to damage even soft wood.

• We have had our Roomba for 3 years and our Roomba has not done any damage to our baseboards or wood furniture legs.

• I've got the 690 and haven't noticed issues with the bristles harming my baseboards or furniture legs. I would assume the 877 has similar bristles. Damage is much more likely from direct strikes by the body of the machine.
