The official range of the microphone at this time is 8ft.

Please try again later.I think the mic range is pretty good - seems to work just fine for normal video conference calls as long as you are sitting at the computer - or even in the same room. I'd guess it's comparable to other webcams. The feedback I get is from others on the call, is they can hear me just fine, even at a normal speaking volume. The audio is quite good - but the video does seem just slightly over-exposed/bright. I recommend this cam - but keep your 'primary' room light just slightly lower if possible.
