“Do the headphones work independently, or does one headphone not work without the other? I have the Jabra 85t set and my left earpiece will not work unless I also have the right earpiece in, and wanted to know if this will still be the case with these.”

Hello EmGee - Yes, the feature will be available. The Jabra Elite 85t was released in November 2020 when that feature was not available on Jabra devices yet but is now offered on the Elite 3, Elite 4, Elite 5 and Elite 7 Series.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also had a pair of 65t’s prior to my current Elite 8 Active which had the same issue as you describe. Fortunately, the Jabra Elite 8 Active DO work independently whether you have only the left or right earbud in.
