Your iPhone with the Jabra app installed will let you control the volume and mode (Adaptive, Focus, Surround) of the earbuds. Also, any sound from your iPhone will appear in your earbuds. For all this the iPhone needs to be close (Within Blue Tooth range) As hearing aids, once adjusted, the iPhone needs not to be nearby to hear speech, TVs, etc, and can be adjusted for volume by pressing the up and down buttons on the right and left ear buds respectively.
