Ummm. This is not a bluetooth headset. It is a WIRED headset. It remains connected to the phone.

Great question, the Evolve 40 is wired, so you should have not have any challenges with the product when listening to music directly from your smart phone. Regarding Bluetooth devices, if the audio you are listening to does not require phone or Wifi signal then the Bluetooth product should still stream audio.
