Have you tried the two different sound modes ? You might find that the 'standard' mode brings the voices out to your preferred level. By default, the SB operates in "Enhanced Mode", but you can change it ....To do this, hold the 'mute' button on the remote for a few seconds until the display reads "Toggle". Now press "+" on the remote and that will switch into standard mode, indicated by the "Enhanced Mode OFF" message. This is detailed in the user manual (online only, not included in the box) at JBL.com.
