Good sound, great quality for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this pair for my husband to use with his new TV because the sound on it was poor, hard to hear compared to our old one. Adding the soundbar was a major improvement, but when we hooked up the woofer it was great. We first tried it with the Bluetooth connection, but there was a slight lag between the characters on screen and their voices from the speaker. Once we connected the sound bar via HDMI cable it was flawless. We also tried connecting via optical cable and it worked that way too. But my husband said he thought the sound wasn't as quality via optical cable as it was using the HDMI cable. I didn't notice a significant difference. All in all it is a great set for the price range!

Changed my view of the importance of sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t normally do these but MAN was I surprised at the amount of bass the subwoofer had. It changed the entire experience of watching a movie for me and my family. I’ll happily argue that it’s money WELL spent!

Pros outweigh cons.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sound bar has great sound quality and the bass is spectacular. It’s great for watching movies or connecting to your phone via Bluetooth to listen to some music. It’s loud enough to fill the room and enhances movie watching. It also looks great and is easy to clean because it doesn’t have the soft mesh most speakers come with. The only con is that you have to aim the remote directly at the sound bar in order for it to work; for instance, if you are sitting at a 30 degree angle and try to turn up the volume using the remote , it won’t work. I have to turn the sound bar to face my direction if I want to use remote.

Powerful JBL 2.1 Soundbar
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! I'm amazed of the sound quality. I truly wasn't expecting a theater type sound. If the 2.1 sound like this, I can't imagine what the 5.1 sounds like. Easy to connect all devices and mount on the wall.

Q: QuestionWhat's the difference between this version (JBL2GBAR21DBBLKAM) abnd the old one (JBLBAR21BLKAM)?
Asked by D21.
- A:Answer They've enhanced the bass response, and added a USB port according to a post on the Yamaha site. However, the old one can be found online for a third less than the current 299 LP for the new model.

Q: QuestionDo you have to turn the sound baron and off every time you use the tv or does it do it automatically? Also can you use the tv speakers with the sounder on?
Asked by Mark.
- A:Answer Our JBL Bar 2.1 have an auto turn on feature. Once it detects a signal from the source, the unit will turn on. We do not recommend to use the sound bar with the TV speakers as it will create a feedback.

Q: QuestionWhat does the 2.1 channel mean ?
Asked by Keisha30.
- A:Answer Two speakers and a sub. .whatever is how many subs. A 5.2 would have 5 speakers and 2 subs, for instance.

Q: QuestionI'm having a problem with the woofer. It loses connection with the soundbar. I've tried everything, including moving the woofer. When I turn my tv on in the morning the woofer works for a few hours and then turns off. Tried pairing, turn off/on.
Asked by Roy.
- A:Answer There are many factors why your subwoofer tends to disconnect from your JBL Bar 2.1. Please try the following methods to see if that resolves the issue: 1. Make sure that there are no obstacles or objects that could be disrupting the connecting between your Bar 2.1 and subwoofer. 2. Try moving your subwoofer closer to your soundbar. 3. Try disconnecting both your subwoofer and soundbar from the power source and reconnect again after 3-5 minutes. 4. Try to reset your device. Press and hold the Source, VOL+, and VOL- buttons at the same time until the “reset” text appears on your soundbars display. Q: QuestionCan the soundbar be connected to the tv via bluetooth or must you hardwire them together.
Asked by Ton.
- A:Answer The soundbar does have a Bluetooth option so I would say it can be connected that way. In my case I have it linked to the tv with a hdmi cable to my tv’s arc connection. The advantage to this is that my soundbar is controlled by my tv remote and turns on/off with my tv. The soundbar and the subwoofer are linked with out wires between them, however they both require power through separate power supplies. All in all I’m really impressed with the quality and ease of use. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone.

Q: QuestionI just bought this system and the hdr signal from my PS4 pro is not reaching my hdr capable tv when connected through the soundbar. The image is still displayed but not in hdr. Is the jbl 2.1 capable of passing through an hdr signal to my tv?
Asked by David.
- A:Answer You are better off connecting the sound bar to the ARC hdmi on the TV if you have that. Connect the PS4 to one of the other hdmi ports on the TV.

Q: QuestionCan the sound bar be mounted directly to a tv rather than the wall?
Asked by JimmyJames11.
- A:Answer Unfortunately, our JBL Bar 2.1 can only mount to a wall.
Answered by JBL Support
Q: QuestionIs there any JBL portable Bluetooth speaker that can sync/connect to this sound bar?
Asked by AT50.
- A:Answer Hi, no, the JBL 2.1 soundbar can't be paired to any other portable BT speaker
