My Bluetooth phone paired up with no problem and my phone is a few model years old.

If you've paired your JBL Bar 3.1 on a phone before and now can't see the JBL Bar 3.1 on the Bluetooth option, you'll need to manually put the Bar into pairing mode by pressing and holding the Bluetooth button on the remote control for 3-5 seconds until you see "PAIRING" on the front panel of the JBL Bar 3.1 and you can find it under your Bluetooth settings.
