Hello! If you are referring to enabling pairing mode, you should press the Bluetooth button on the speaker for about 2-3 seconds until it blinks. It will be visible to you device. Also, you may try resetting the speaker by pressing and holding the "Volume +" and "Play/Pause" buttons at the same time for more than 3 seconds while the speaker is ON. If the issue persists, please submit a case request at https://www.jbl.com/support-contact.html and the Customer Service Team will be more than happy to assist you.

Guessing it's you're phone I would suggest trying another phone before trashing it. Depending on age it might still be under mfg warranty or under your Geek Squad protection plan. If you have none, and have tried everything....pray. Christmas is around the corner:)
