“radio will not power down when vehicle is turned off. Obviously, I understand that it should probably go to sleep and not fully power down. However, it stays on, even though vehicle is turned off. I drive a 2003 Suburban. Thanks.”

That is going to be a wiring issue. Power should not be able to go to the unit when the Ignition is turned off. Something is wired incorrectly.
