Have you tried a different cable? I was also experiencing issues with Android Auto whereby I kept getting errors along the lines of "error accessing the device has occurred". I changed USB cables and issue was resolved. For what it's worth, I purchased a USB cable by JSAUX off Amazon and Android Auto has worked ever since.
