QuestionDoes this support Bluetooth? Would I be able to control volume etc with my steering wheel controls? Are only certain cars compatible?

- Answer This model does fully support Bluetooth...due to the many changes in the phone operating systems, please be sure to check that the firmware on the JVC is up to date. Here is a link for this model. http://www.jvc.net/cs/car/firmware/2018/kwv840bt/ One of the problems with replacing your factory radio with a new receiver, is that those handy audio controls built into the steering wheel won't work anymore. The way to solve this dilemma is to install an adapter for the steering wheel audio controls, . You would need something like the iDatalink Maestro ADS-MSW Steering Wheel Control Adapter. Best Buy carries others as well and can set you up with the one that is best for your vehicle.

QuestionCan the screen on the JVC KW-M740BT be shut off for night driving? And I’m not talking about shutting the entire stereo down, but listening to music with the screen off.

- Answer Yes. Hit the function button in top right corner and then you have to hold down on the screen that says display. Screen then just shows a small clock

- Answer Yes it is compatible, you’d have to get the compatible wiring harness for your vehicle along with the dash kit for that factory look. The wiring harness you have several options, this particular head unit is compatible with the idatalink Maestro module which will communicate with your OBDII, will give vehicle gauge readings on screen, and retain factory steering wheel controls.

QuestionThe deal says free installation. When I go to order it says geek squad recommended a number nof other things including a back up camera. Will the installation include the back up camera if I buy them together?

- Answer Unfortunately the back up camera is a separate installation charge even though the camera has to be connected to the receiver anyway. So they install the receiver for free and then take it out to connect the camera for an installation fee, doesn’t make much sense really...another way to get more money. Each piece is a separate installation fee!

- Answer Yes. It functions pretty much the same as using your phone alone. There are some work around things you have to do to get some applications to work. YouTube has a lot of tutorials. Not all of them worked for me but most do. Very happy with this unit.

- Answer This needs to be corrected on the Best Buy site. The JVC model is compatible with both Android and Apple iOS operating systems. Site should read "Mobile Operating System Compatibility: Apple iOS and Android" Thanks for pointing that out!!!

- Answer You can disable the Demo in the menu. Simply power up the unit, select SETUP, SPECIAL, DEMO, and OFF.

- Answer It works in junction with Apple CarPlay, the apps that will show up on screen are the apps compatible with Apple CarPlay (i.e. Apple maps, Waze, google maps, Pandora). You can check Apple’s website for a list of compatible apps for Apple CarPlay. It does not have wireless CarPlay it has to be connected via USB in order for Apple CarPlay to work.

- Answer Google Maps is available via Android Auto, which this unit supports. Waze is available via Android Auto as well as standalone, JVC has weblink apps, you need to download the JVC app to your phone (iPhone or Android) and connect via USB. Then you can use Waze without the need for using Android Auto, this is great for iPhone users that like to use Waze instead of Apple Maps, which is the only map available via CarPlay.

QuestionIn the specifications it says this unit has a motorized faceplate. What exactly does that mean? Does it fold up or something?

- Answer The face is not motorized. The internal display of the screen allows you to adjust 3 different angles on it to give you a better view of the display. But again this is internal, the face itself does not move.

- Answer Rigth now, my Best Buy is offering free installations. You do have to get the dash kit, but those aren't expensive. It will mimic a few of the apps, but not all of them. In the JVC app, you can set what it has access to and the interface. Although it's not completely customizable, it's still worth it.
