You are correct, the free installation just waves the $100.00 install fee it will still cost you about $230 to purchase the frame, antanea cable and the wire harness for GMC (about $185). I have a 2008 GMC Sierra classic and it ran me that much. I have steering wheel controls and they all work with the wire harness you have to purchase. Be aware though I did not read the box and was told by the salesperson that this radio has Sirus XM on it, it does not, it is just Serius ready, you will still have to purchase the satalite adapter for $58 and get it installed. (its just a plug and play so I would do it yourself and not pay for the install. But overall I am very happy with the radio in the truck.
