Yes, they are two different harnesses but same plug in to the device. So you can hardwire one vehicle and detach and use in a second vehicle using the "cigarette lighter" 12volt plug in. And yes. This can be easy or as hard as you want. Meaning it has a simple basic start up. Once you're in it does have loads of features that you can play with or leave alone and keep it simple silly. The hardwire is required for "sentry mode" but that's it and if you have a constant on 12v plug then it'll still operate "sentry mode" . And this can be operated by an app on your phone to make it easier than fiddling with the little Itty-bitty screen and its ltty-bitty buttons.
