It's personal preference I would suggest a sealed box for a wider range of music or a prefab ported for like rap music they were super loud in my box but they don't play well with super notes

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not necessarily ported. Many of today's subwoofers will perform fine in sealed enclosures. A good rule of thumb for a 12" would be roughly 2 cu ft. or something close. I might recommend you visit Kenwood's website to see if they, as the manufacturer offer any "recommended" enclosure configurations.
