I followed the descaling instructions to a tee multiple times, and the descale light is still on. Very frustrating! This will be my last Keurig

To begin the Descale process when the Descale light is flashing - REMEMBER to turn the power button "OFF" before you try press the 8oz + 12oz buttons to start the Descaling process:
1. Unplug the Keurig Slim unit from power and make sure there is no coffee pod in it.
2. Clean the water tank, and pour in one bottle of Keurig Descaling solution, refill the bottle with fresh water and pour into the solution in the tank.
3. Plug in the Keurig unit - DO NOT PRESS THE POWER BUTTON! Instead, press the 8oz+12oz buttons for 3 seconds and the "Brew" light will begin to flash.
4. Put a large ceramic cup under it, and press the "Brew" button. Discard the hot solution, and repeat this until the "Add Water" light comes on.
5. Refill the water tank with fresh, clear water, return to step 4. When the "Add Water" light comes on again, the Descale process is complete, and the Descale light should go off until it needs to be done again.

After multiple attempts, my machine finally completed the descaling process. Now it won’t come out of the descaling mode and I’m unable to use my machine. This process should never prevent me from using the machine I paid for. I clean my appliances on my own. I won’t be purchasing another Keurig.

Stoobie got it right. Thank you! This was frustrating as first but after reading Stoobie’s steps it helped:

Here is how I got it to work. I did complete all the above steps that were mentioned. After I completed the first full reservoir full of solution and water - The "add water light" never came on... So it was empty so I filled it up again with just water and then continued to press the K button and dumping the water in the sink. This time when it got close to being empty the "add water light" DID start to blink.. So I once again filled the reservoir with just water and continued to press the K button again until all the water in the reservoir was empty.. Once the water was empty the descaling light FINALLY turned off completely! Hallelujah!! I think what you have to do is go through enough cycles for the add water button to turn on and then do one more complete cycle after that; and then the descale light should turn off.

I printed out the instructions for K-Slim and followed them to the letter. However, the "add water" light did NOT come on when it was supposed to. In fact, it completely emptied all the water and then steam started coming out of the machine. Because the "add water" light did not come on either time it was supposed to, it never came out of descale mode. So that light is still on despite having done the descale process. Plus, I think that sucking the reservoir dry probably did nothing good to the machine. But it still works - with the descale light on.

Call Keurig with your serial and model number ready. Tell the representative that their product is defective. I have had three free machines shipped to me because they refused to reset. Keurig, which is less expensive, fix the problem (and improve satisfaction), or continue to ship free products, diminishing inventory with no revenue? Unlike a real fix, leaving this be will damage your brand more than it has.

Stoobie has best instructions and 1 other comment . Follow Stoobies instructions and most importantly Add Water will not appear till reservoir is near empty(somebody mentioned this ) when you have had enough water cycles of descaling the Descale sign will be off.
I pieced together advices from 3 people on this thread and that s how it worked for me. 
Remember has to be in descaling mode .. per Stoobies instructions .. and push 12oz and 8 oz for it to be in that mode .. Good luck and thanks to all contributors

I’m sorry to say we had the same problem, have tried everything Keurig recommends, and have given up. We think our unit malfunctioned - it went into descale mode on its own. It won’t run the descale mode and we can’t get it to exit it. We’re buying a new one to replace it - it was great while it lasted.

Today, my third Keurig became inoperable. The plastic around the needle on my first unit broke, and, after attempting to descale the Keurig, my last two will not even power on. I love the convenience of K-cups, but I purchased a coffee maker to make coffee. Unfortunately, the Keurigs I’ve owned only did that for a short period of time. I’m going back to a traditional coffee maker.

the steps above do work. But it seems overly complicated and a real waste of water.  Also, I only use filtered water and I would expect the descaling process to be needed very often, but it is being asked for way too often.  I am guessing it is based on the number of "cups" and not the actual condition of the element.

Here’s what I did and it worked. After descaling as per instructions, with the machine off push and hold the 6 & 10 buttons simultaneously. While holding the two buttons press the power button and the descale light should go off. I’m most certain it was the 6 & 10 but it could have been the 8 & 10. Good luck.

Just because the descaler light is on doesn't necessarily mean it needs to be descaled. It's on a counter after so many cups it automatically turns on. It's just another way for them to get you to buy their descaler solution which cost about $20. I use water and vinegar mixture and it works fine.

If you have a K-Classic, the procedure is NOT pressing 2 of the cup size buttons together and magically hoping it turns on while it is off, like others posted! It is going through with a normal brewing process and using the largest cup size setting, but with no K-cup in the bin. Obviously you’re supposed to have their descaling solution in the water tank. If you attempt to start the brewing process by turning it on, lifting the handle, closing it, then pressing the cup button, and then your unit shuts off before it starts, clean the needle area! It probably got clogged up the last time it punctured a K-cup and it’s probably not even a descale issue. Use a paper towel to clean that area thoroughly-the needle’s hole where water comes out, and the rubber surface of the pad where the needle sits. I was able to get the unit to run a cycle and the light turned off.

I also tried Stoobie’s response.  The descaling light also went out which made me happy but then when I tried to turn it on it wouldn’t turn on at all.  No lights nothing.  I have already reported to Kuerig and sent in my documentation.   I now have two weeks for a replacement.  I did find a less expensive version from Walmart from Kuerig for $35.  That will be cheaper than ordering DoorDash for two weeks.

I followed what someone else said and it worked great!   I turned power off, held down the 8oz and 10ox buttons at the same time til my 12oz button blinked. When I turned the power back on, no descale light!!   I cleaned with vinegar and water and then ran 3 more pitchers through.

My descale light came on. I emptied the water container and refilled it with distilled vinegar. I ran it through. I refilled it with water and ran it through. I refilled the container with water and ran one kcup to ensure the system would have a coffee taste before I made my next cup. Ran next cup without going through all the additional steps I’ve read, but then again I didn’t read the manual, but I’m back to making coffee with no descale light

I did all the steps and when I put more water in it was still in descale mode.  After  one large cup went thru I  emptied the water out of the tank except for a cup.  That went thru then the Keurig turned off.  I turned  it on after a few mins and the add water light came on.  That was the end of the descale light.  FYI I had already descaled a week ago.  Just had to get that darn descale light off.

If the reservoir runs empty and "add water" light does not turn on, call Keurig warranty.  This is a known issue where descaling destroys the water level sensor. Keurigs have a 1 year warranty.  I am on my 3rd Keurig.  They cannot seem to survive descaling. I have tried vinegar descaling and commercial descaler.  I'll try something different with my 3rd machine.

Follow Stooby's instructions to a tee and you can't go wrong.  The amount of liquid ran through the process is not important.... the number of 'Add Water' cycles is.  I put just enough water in the tank so the' Add Water' light would come on after one cup. When that happens, just go back to step four and repeat the process until the descaling light goes out.
