• It will not ruin the machine if you do, but if your tap water does not have a good taste, this will affect the taste of your coffee. The cleaner the water is, the more flavorful your coffee will be.

• We have been putting both tap water and filtered water no difference. The reason it doesn't get ruined is because of the filter that The Kurig has inside the little reservoir. (Of course you have to buy and replace each time but it's worth it for that good tasting coffee)
