It is not placed ON the wall, it is placed THROUGH the wall. It is just like a window air conditioner except that it goes through the wall into a metal sleeve (which must be purchased separately ). You also have to have the wall opening cut to fit the sleeve if it is not already there. The water is evaporated outside the room so there is no leakage into the room.
