• These style amps will work with aftermarket stereo pre-amps, but are generally designed to be used high level and sound better if you use a speaker level input

• I just had one installed. It takes the un-amplified signal from the radio. But, it will blow you away!

• It does not add power to your preamp. It uses the preamp signal, then amplies it to 45watts. You would need professional installation if you asked that question.
