Yes a fan comes on after using for a while.

This is normal and helps eliminate moisture that may accumulate inside the microwave oven before the door is opened. While the fan is running, “COOL” will appear in the display. The fan will turn off automatically. New cooking functions may be started while “COOL” is still being displayed. Thank you for your inquiry on our KitchenAid appliances.
