No it doesn't have a "hard food disposer", but it does have a 2-stage filter systems, which are easy to remove and clean out. They require cleaning periodically, depending on the usage. We have been very happy with this dishwasher, had it for about 2 months now. Works much better than the Frigidaire it replaced. We owned a Bosch years ago, and I would also claim it is better than the Bosch, mostly because it has a heated drying cycle.
