“The cabinet where my current dishwasher is installed is split where the screw goes in (side, near top) -- we have granite counters so could not screw in from top. Will this pose a problem when installing this dw or can the screws go in further down?”

You can download the installation instructions from the website if you have the model number handy. There is a piece in there about side-mounting the dishwasher...just can't remember how far from the base or top the attachments are placed to secure the DW. Good luck.
