You have to push the functions you want before you close the door, as they are hidden after you close the door. You can press functions like normal, or pro-wash, then the drying options, then the start/resume button, then close the door. If you open the door to add or remove something, then you'll have to press the resume button, then close the door. There's a light on the top right of the door that tells you what the dishwasher is doing. Blue is wash, red is drying, white is done. Hope this helps.
