No, it makes a sound when power turned on, and when you are adjusting the temp. Or if you take off a pan and forget to turn power off, it will let you know. We love it so far, very easy to keep clean and boils water super-fast!

This causes a build up of heat, which sometimes results in beeping. So we use paper towels instead. We also hear beeping when the pot is not centered to the burner. When we hear beeping, we know that something isn't right and it's usually our fault. We have a Samsung induction range at our cabin. It has a feature that the KitchenAid doesn't have, and that is blue lights that shine like a flame to show that the burner is on when an induction capable pot is placed on it. The blue burner lights mimic a flame and makes it easy to see the center of the burner. KitchenAid should adopt this technology and make using their cooktop easier for us old people!
