This is a down draft system not for hood applications, if you have the down draft piping in place it will probably work otherwise forget it, Terry
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The down draft is vented to the outside with appropriate vent pipe. If you have a hood, then you don't need the downdraft. Just make sure your hood and cabinets are high enough above the cooktop to operate safely and are within codes. In my area the cabinet/hood heights are different for electric stoves and gas stoves.

If you have a hood then you do not need the downdraft and you can save a lot of money by purchasing a non-downdraft model. Downdrafts are for installations in areas where you cannot install a hood but can run a 6 inch exhaust line to the outside of your home.
