You must either vent to the outside using 6” galvanized or aluminum metal vent or utilize the Duct FreeFilter Accessory Kit Part Number JDA7000WX. All the installation instructions are listed at the following link. https://www.kitchenaid.com/content/dam/global/documents/201611/installation-instructions-W10848427-RevB.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One of the selling points of this model is that it has a vent built into the cooktop (the downdraft), so you don’t need a hood-type vent. But with any form of ventilation, it needs to exhaust somewhere, so to use this downdraft, you would have to have some piping from under your cooktop to the exterior of your house. Technically, you could install this cooktop without any exhaust piping and just never use the downdraft, but that assumes you have some other ventilation, and then you’re wasting a bunch of money on this model. Assuming you want the downdraft function of this cooktop, you probably need a contractor to install the exhaust piping somewhere.

Manual in the box says there is a conversion kit for for ductless installation which I was considering but I was unable to find the conversion kit it mentioned; sites that carried it says it is no longer available.
