• It probably does not matter since the grinding action only takes place when the top is place perfectly on the base and pressed down.

• Hi Tom, The Blade Coffee Grinder can be plugged in prior to putting the beans in for grinding.

• you can plug in before and keep it pluged in as long as your grinding once finished unplug
