• Hi Fay, The Food Grinder Attachment is not recommended for grinding nuts and the attachment is universal on all KitchenAid Stand Mixers.

• It can definitely grind nuts, no problem. Depending on how fine you want them ground, however, you may want their grain mill (https://www.kitchenaid.com/countertop-appliances/stand-mixers/attachments/p.all-metal-grain-mill.kgm.html). As far as I know, all current attachments fit current Kitchenaid models, but you should research that to make sure. Hope this helps!
