A passive speaker is a speaker that does not feature an internal amplifier. This means that a passive speaker will need to be connected, via speaker wire, to an external receiver/amplifier for power and to produce audio. Example: The R-41SA will need to be connected to a receiver/amplifier that supplies close to 50 Watts per channel at 8 Ohms.
