understand you can not use these as atmos speaker for a standard 7.1 set up. Atmos are considered height speakers. If you use atmos with front speakers you get 5.1.2. If you mount them then they are considered surround sound speakers in a 7.1 setup. Right now I am using them as surround sound because I have a vaulted ceiling. They sound amazing. I am so looking forward when I move. If you want a 7.1.2 or 7.1.4 you will need to upgrade receiver to at least a 9.1.

My setup works very well, but my total height is around 4 to 4 1/2 ft from floor to ceiling. I would say it should be about 1/2 the 8ft. height. Otherwise you may have to put something under the speakers. (on top of large front speakers) on each side of the receiver. I was told by Geek squad not to mount them unless I had to. Note: My speakers are R-41sa Dolby Atmos speakers Joe
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To avoid direct sound from the Atmos interfering/competing with my other speakers, which are at ear level, I have them placed almost a foot higher. That way I’m getting reflected sound from the ceiling rather than direct, which would defeat what I’m trying to achieve using the Atmos.
