It comes with several adapters so you can handle several kinds of film negatives and also one for slides. You can simply feed them into the scanner. Works really slick on both film negatives and slides. Scanned about 600 pictures in a short period of time. Caution, you do need a digital photo SD card to store the pictures and then move them into a file on your computer.

One is to insert the empty 50x50 slide holder in the scanner -- and then insert the slide you want to view/scan into the holder from the right-hand side. The slide you want to scan needs to be positioned in the center of the slide holder, though. One relatively easy way to do this is to insert another slide in the holder in order to nudge your original slide to the center. (Admittedly, this is a bit awkward, but it gets the job done.)
